Namaste
Last week was at times challenging due to a variety of things, but I tried to remain focused and to send positive thoughts, prayers and love to the people of Haiti and specifically to my friend Eric who is looking for our friend and his fiance Chrystel. To date she has not been found, yet we remain hopeful. As such I felt the following quote was a good one for this week.
Namaste. I honour the place in you where the entire universe resides... a place of light, of love, of truth, of peace, of wisdom. I honour the place in you where when you are in that place and I am in that place there is only one of us. - Ghandi

Let it begin with me...
So this process continues to work in this week when I acquire 42 years on this earth. It is amazing to me to watch how with focus I can truly affect my days. Love it.

Continuing with peace
So, last week it was apparent that I have definitely picked the right word for myself this year. All kinds of craziness, yet I remained calm. I like that. Here is my quote for this week:
"Peace is not the absence of conflict, but the ability to cope with it" unknown

Word for the Year
Two years ago, at the suggestion of Ali Edwards, who has a great blog, books and classes, I began choosing a word for the year. It has been predominantly a private thing I have done for myself. I use the word to help me focus as I go about my daily life. Ali declares her word publicly. This year I decided to do the same thing. My word for 2010 is PEACE. As in a state of tranquility or quiet. As in freedom from disquieting thoughts or emotions. As in harmony in personal relations. But mostly as in inner contentment or serenity. Everyone can use a little peace in their lives.
Ali also suggests that you take one little action with your word to make it more present in your life. I have decided that I am going to pick a quote each week on peace to learn from and live by. This weeks quote is by Robert Fulghum:
“Peace is not something you wish for; It's something you make, Something you do, Something you are, And something you give away.”
Happy New Year - what is your word for the year?
