December Daily 2010 - December 6

December62010

This is a special part of our Christmas celebration each year: handmade items. I think this is something ingrained in me. My grandmother made felt and sequin Christmas ornaments each year. She made a lot of Christmas ornaments. I have been the recipient of most of these ornaments in our family. They are very special to me. So, for our little family, I try to add something handmade to our Christmas celebration each year. One year it may only be the Christmas Pajamas that our kids wear proudly all year long. In 2008 at the last minute I tried to make a Christmas quilt. I didn't finish it. However, I did finish it for 2009. I also added the Christmas Pillowcases for the kids last year. I want them to have these memories for their childhood and then be able to take them along to their families and establish some kind of similar tradition for them.

I'm visiting from Ali's blog! I love your tradition of handmade and you are lucky to have those special momentos from your grandmother. The weather looks marvelous where you are :) It's been fun to visit.

I made pj pants for my grown daughters and the granddaughters last year. This year I'm aiming for pillowcases for each family. Happy December!
